A four-part check

  2. Select every component of the sequence.
  3. Try the result inside its intended application.
  4. State important information with words as well.

Rendering and compatibility

Coverage is broad in math-oriented fonts. Alignment, operator spacing, and glyph style can vary substantially.

Unicode defines character identity, while fonts and platforms draw the result. A different shape does not automatically mean a different character; an empty box usually means missing font coverage.
